Do pregnancy symptoms only begin after implantation of fertilized egg?

Science says that implantation of a woman's fertilized egg takes place 10-14 days after ovulation. Does this mean that a woman cannot experience pregnancy symptoms until then? How can women possibly report early pregnancy symptoms just days after ovulation/fertilization if the egg has not yet implanted? After all, until it is implanted it is not really connected to you but rather just floating in fluid. Can't find the answer to this on the web. Hope someone has a reliable answer!
