What can I do, I don't have any family fortune?

My family had a funeral home, casket company and gambling casino in the early 1900s. The gambling casino was burned down, was uninsured and was never rebuilt. All was lost in flames. The casket company did not do well either. The funeral home went bankrupt because the town where we lived, no longer had two funeral homes. It now had multiple funeral homes. The last thing I remember is that the city wanted the land that our family funeral home was on, because it was going to build an expressway through that area. Out of the blue, I was chosen by family members as the one who obtained some large family fortune. This rumor has continued and persisted for well over 50 years. What can I do to convince my family that I don't have this family fortune?
